Lake Annecy, also known as the Jewel of the Alps, is renowned for its pristine turquoise green waters. The second largest lake in France is fed by alpine rivers and its water is so pure that you can drink it and see as far as 10m deep.
Amazing beaches ornate the surroundings of the lake. Some more popular than others. You can choose to relax and sunbathe at a quiet public beach or aim for one of the many managed beaches with lifesavers, cafes , paddling pools and entertainment . Here is a selection of the beaches we like the most:
Municipal beach - Menthon-Saint-Bernard
Popular green area with plenty of trees to shelter from the hot summer sun, Menthon's municipal beach offers paddling pools for little ones, games for children, platforms to swim to and jump off from and has a cafe area serving icecreams and snacks. You can walk along the water from the plage to the port area of menthon, you can also swim here , relax on the grassy area and jump off the many pontoons. There are also pédalo boats to hire and a restaurant right on the lake front.
Plage du Plant Beach - Veyrier-du-Lac
Just next to the sailing club, lovely green area with unsupervised swimming, open to all.
Plage de la La Brune beach - Veyrier-du-Lac
This popular beach is ideal for families with little ones as its sand bank gently slopes into the water and has a toddler paddling area, cafe/restaurant open during the summer months …Swimming lessons in the lake in the morning and sailing club available too. Blue Flag since 2009.
Angon beach- Talloires
Angon Beach is on the south side of Talloires and is great for families with children thanks to a gradual slope into the lake. The beach has a lovely grassy and sandy area and has a beautiful little shallow river running through, the perfect spot for children to splash around and play in . In the evening the beach has a cafe that produces live music in the summer , an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the warm summer evenings with a chilled drink.
Espace Lac beach - Talloires
This little beach is away from the crowds of Annecy in the little hamlet of Angon. Ideal for a quiet and lazy afternoon or refreshing stop on your cycle route.
Municipal beach - Talloires
Beautiful lush green area right opposite the Château de Duingt. Great views on the lake, lots of shade and see-through waters with paddling pool, floating platforms, fully supervised from end of June.
Bout du Lac beach - Doussard
This beach is part of a natural park where greenery and wildlife thrive . This wild eden is ideal to relax but also to explore the local wildlife and escape the crowds.
Marquisats beach - Annecy
The most popular, for both locals and tourists as it is the first beach you see when you reach the lake from Annecy. It stretches from the town center all the way to the eastern side of Annecy, towards Annecy le Vieux. It is a large grassy area, ideal point for a picnic and extremely popular in the peak of summer especially for the fireworks display of July 14th.
Impérial beach - Annecy
A complex for all summer recreational activities, events, lazing around with your friends, business meals, relaxing with the family, or festive or motivational evenings. This beach has both grass and fine sand, and boasts facilities which make it an ideal playground for everyone.
Albigny beach - Annecy-le-Vieux
This beautiful grassy beach is the continuation of the Maquisats beach. It is right next to the little harbour, and very green with flowers and plants. It is the hub of healthy living where you will find swimmers, walkers, runners, rollerbladers and cyclists alike.
Albigny beach - Annecy-le-Vieux
There's plenty of room at this grass beach edged with flowers and plants, which offers swimmers and walkers alike one of the lake's most elegant and renowned settings.
We love "wild beaches": the banks of the lake are on the Eastern side, give access to shallow ends and wherever you go, you will find a spot so quiet and with see-through waters, that all you will want to do is jump in! Enjoy and keep safe!
Most supervised beaches open from end of June and charge approx. €2.30 per adult per day. Please visit
